Duties

Help

As a Lead Grant Management Specialist, you will:

  • Provide oversight and administration matters, including voucher examination, audit resolution and disallowance of costs claimed, and awardee performance, often leading to award termination.
  • As a senior Grants Management Specialist (GMS), reports to the Procurement Director, and serves as a primary or secondary point of contact for program officials on all grants management matters regarding the programs the incumbent is supporting.
  • Provide advice on work methods, practices, and procedures, and assist the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
  • Monitor and reports on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisors instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality have been met.
  • Unlimited signatory authority for significant grants or programs characterized by large funding levels and commitment period extending over a long period of time.
  • Participate in ARPA-E and Team management initiatives and acquisition policy development.

Qualifications

GS-14 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidates online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 out of 3 of the following:

  • Leading technical negotiations to finalize pre and post award financial assistance agreements.
  • Directing staff in grants management functions to optimize team performance.
  • Advising internal and external stakeholders on procurement regulations to resolve complex acquisition and funding inquires.

"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
