Job Description:

In this role, you will assist in the maintenance of athletic fields using a variety of machines, tools, and equipment and lead the crew in the absence of the Crew Leader.

Examples of Duties:

  • Instructs other members of crews in proper operational procedures and techniques.
  • Assists the Crew Leader in coordinating the tasks to be performed by the crew; supervises the crew in the absence of the Crew Leader.
  • May requisition or purchase supplies and equipment.
  • Rakes leaves and clay infields.
  • Paints and chalks foul lines.
  • Cleans grounds and removes litter.
  • Assists with the setup of fields for practices and games.
  • Responsible for tools assigned to the truck and will be required to help maintain equipment by use of a checklist.
  • Makes minor on-site repairs to equipment such as ball field drag, spreader, and weed trimming equipment.
  • Receives instruction and training in proper safety precautions, use of tools, etc. required in maintenance.
  • Requires working knowledge of small hand tools such as string trimmers, stick-edgers, blowers, and backpack sprayers.
  • Makes minor on-site repairs to equipment such as lawn mower, spreader, and weed trimming equipment.
  • Receives instruction and training in proper safety precautions, use of tools, etc. required in maintenance.
  • Operates city vehicles and equipment, such as trucks and trailers.
  • Uses city-issued devices to electronically track and update work orders.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED and 1 year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of baseball field measurements and maintenance techniques.
  • Valid state issued driver's license.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software.
