Job Description:

In this role, you will assist in the maintenance of public parks, property or rights-of-way using a variety of machines, tools and equipment, and lead the crew in the absence of the Crew Leader.

Examples of Duties:

  • Instructs other members of crews in proper operational procedures and techniques.
  • Assists the Crew Leader in coordinating the tasks to be performed by the crew; supervises the crew in the absence of the Crew Leader.
  • Operates city vehicles and equipment, to include trucks and trailers.
  • May requisition or purchase supplies and equipment.
  • Cuts lawns.
  • Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.
  • Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
  • Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
  • Cleans grounds and removes litter.
  • Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.
  • Makes minor on-site repairs to equipment such as lawn mower, spreader, and weed trimming equipment; sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
  • Receives instruction and training in proper safety precautions, use of tools, etc. required in maintenance.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience
  • High school diploma/GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid state issued driver's license.
  • Ability to use a smart phone device and computer software
