Lead Hardware Engineer 


This is a full-time, Direct Hire opportunity. 
 

Pay Range:
  • $120 – 135K, depending on experience 

Summary:
  • We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead of Hardware Engineer to drive the development of ruggedized electronics, displays, and computing systems for mission-critical defense and aerospace applications.
  • This leadership role is responsible for managing the entire hardware development lifecycle—from concept and design through production—ensuring all solutions meet stringent performance, reliability, and regulatory standards.
  • The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in electronic hardware design, a proven ability to lead high-performing engineering teams, and a strong commitment to innovation in high-reliability, high-stakes environments.
Scope of Responsibility & Core Objectives:
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the Hardware Engineering team, ensuring the successful development and delivery of high-quality, ruggedized electronic systems built on modular and scalable architectures.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Testability (DFT).
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, development, and validation of digital, analog, and power electronics for ruggedized computing and display platforms.
  • Provide technical direction and hands-on support in circuit design, PCB layout, signal integrity, thermal management, and EMI/EMC compliance during the qualification process
  • Ensure all hardware designs conform to relevant standards such as MIL-STD, DO-160, and specific customer environmental and electrical requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Software, Systems, and Test Engineering teams to ensure fully integrated and optimized product solutions.
  • Define, implement, and uphold engineering best practices, including design reviews, documentation standards, and continuous process improvement.
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent, promoting a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Serve as the senior hardware technical authority in support of proposals, technical roadmaps, and key customer interactions.
  • Manage resource allocation, project timelines, and departmental budgets to align with organizational objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in hardware design and development, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity
  • Experience within the defense, aerospace, and/or rugged electronics sectors is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated expertise in high-speed digital circuit design, power supply architecture, and embedded hardware development
  • In-depth knowledge of ruggedization techniques, thermal management strategies, and EMI/EMC mitigation practices
  • Knowledge with industry-standard design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or equivalent ECAD platforms
  • Strong familiarity with relevant environmental and electrical compliance standards, including MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and DO-160
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional engineering teams and managing complex projects within multidisciplinary development environments, utilizing New Product Introduction (NPI) phase gate processes
