Host / Hostess – Full-Time, Part-Time & Seasonal

Location: Virginia Beach Oceanfront
Pay: Hourly
Schedule: Flexible scheduling available (days, evenings, weekends, and seasonal)

The Cavalier Resort is seeking friendly, organized, and hospitality-focused Hosts/Hostesses to join our team across several dining venues throughout the resort. As the first and last point of contact for many guests, hosts play an important role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring smooth restaurant operations.

Hosts may work in one or more of the following venues across the resort:

• Orion’s Roof – rooftop dining experience
• Becca – upscale American dining
• The Hunt Room – tavern-style restaurant and bar
• The Raleigh Room – craft cocktail lounge
• Tulu Seaside Bar & Grill – coastal dining concept
• Tacos N Tequila – Oceanfront Tiki Vibes
• The Deck – oceanfront dining
• We Scream Ice Cream – Icecream & Coffee Shop
• Dining outlets within Embassy Suites by Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort including Arbuckle’s Bar & Grill

Position Overview

Hosts are responsible for greeting guests, managing restaurant seating flow, and creating a welcoming first impression. This role requires strong communication skills, organization, and the ability to remain calm and professional during busy service periods.

What You’ll Do

 Welcome guests warmly and provide a positive first impression of the restaurant

 Manage waitlists, reservations, and table assignments

晴 Escort guests to tables and provide menus

 Answer phones and assist with reservation inquiries

Coordinate with servers and managers to ensure efficient table turnover

粒 Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entry area

 Assist guests with questions and provide accurate information about the restaurant

欄 Support the service team to ensure a smooth dining experience

Previous restaurant or customer service experience preferred but not required

Comfortable standing for extended periods

Responsibilities of Gold Key|PHR hourly Associates:

1. Know your job.Complete job skills training and possess a clear knowledge of the job, know property standards, listen attentively in Pre-shift and ask for clarification of assignments and expectations. Apply experience and training to accomplish tasks.
2. Be on time.Follow attendance guidelines and reports to work on time, and in uniform and follow clock in and out procedures.
3. Be on stage.Associates are friendly, approachable, and always willing to assist.  Associates must follow property personal appearance standards, is well groomed, in uniform and practices good personal hygiene
4. Serve.Conduct yourself professionally and collaboratively with Guests and fellow Associates an in accord with the company’s service culture, “The Keys to Making it Right.”
5. Work smart.Understand the needs of the shift, use resources properly, complete all assignment methodically and promptly without losing attention to details.
6. Use your tools. Use the approved tools and checklists to complete assigned tasks.
7. Measure Up.Associate produces work that meets the standards of the department in terms of volume and quality.  Associate meets goals and measures as defined by Department Leadership.
8. Respect the space.Keep your work area clean and organized. Report any deficiencies promptly to your Supervisor.
9. Be safe.Report unsafe work conditions or practices and safety or security violations in accordance with company policy.  
10. Support the Team:Cooperate with other associates and supervisors striving to create a positive work environment. Support team efforts through carrying out responsibilities in a constructive and professional manner.
11. Delegates tasks to host staff during each shift
12. Responsible for the training of new host staff
13. Reports directly to the Maitre d' with reservations or guest issues
14. Assists in the overall flow and seating in the restaurant
15. Greet Guests in a friendly & courteous manner upon entering & exiting the restaurant.
16. Gather necessary guest information needed to provide the best seating accommodations.
17. Inform guests of information related to seating such as approximate wait times & offering suggestions for more timely seating.
18. Provide guest seating in a courteous, safe, & efficient manner.
19. Provide guests with helpful menu information & personal recommendations to assist with the ordering process.
20. Perform assigned side work developed to maintain general organization & cleanliness of the host station & all related areas.
21. Continually communicates all seating needs to all appropriate management, server assistants, kitchen staff, & servers to ensure optimum seating is achieved.
22. Provide general information for all Guests as requested.
23. Successfully complete all other duties assigned
