Lead Housekeeper (Full-Time, Live-Out)

Position Overview

A private estate located on the North Shore of Long Island is seeking an experienced and highly organized Lead Housekeeper to oversee the daily operations of a newly built luxury residence.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can manage household staff, coordinate vendors, and ensure the home is maintained to the highest standards. The ideal candidate has prior experience in a formal, fully staffed home and demonstrates strong leadership, organization, and discretion.

This position is well-suited for someone who takes pride in creating and maintaining systems, while also remaining actively involved in the day-to-day upkeep of a fine home.


Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and maintain household systems, schedules, and protocols
• Create and manage daily and weekly task schedules for household staff
• Ensure the residence is consistently maintained to exceptional standards of cleanliness and organization
• Maintain all areas of the home in a guest-ready condition at all times
• Oversee and support housekeeping staff, delegating tasks as appropriate
• Coordinate and oversee all vendor appointments including maintenance, repairs, and landscaping
• Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors and service providers
• Manage routine maintenance, seasonal needs, and preventative care of the property
• Perform detailed cleaning, laundry, ironing, and wardrobe care as needed
• Maintain organization of closets, storage areas, and household systems
• Oversee care of fine furnishings, antiques, and delicate surfaces to museum-quality standards

• Manage and track household inventory and restock supplies as needed
• Track expenses related to household operations
• Assist with special projects and organizational initiatives as required


Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience working in a formal, fully staffed private residence (luxury hotel background a plus)
• Strong knowledge of caring for fine furnishings and delicate surfaces
• Proven leadership experience managing household staff
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal English)
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and smartphone technology
• Valid driver’s license required
• Strong professional references
• Authorized to work in the United States
