Lead HVAC Installer

Job Summary

The Lead HVAC Installer is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role involves leading a team of technicians, ensuring high-quality workmanship, maintaining safety standards, and delivering excellent customer service on residential and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise HVAC installation crews on job sites, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
• Install, service, and repair residential and commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, and related components.
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to plan and execute installations accurately.
• Diagnose system issues, perform troubleshooting, and implement effective repairs or upgrades.
• Ensure all work complies with local codes, manufacturer guidelines, safety regulations, and company standards.
• Train, mentor, and support junior technicians to improve skills and maintain high performance.
• Communicate with customers, project managers, and other stakeholders regarding project progress, timelines, and any issues.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
• Oversee inventory of tools, equipment, and materials on job sites; coordinate with suppliers as needed.
• Promote a strong safety culture and enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HVAC technician/installer (typically 5+ years), with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical components, refrigeration principles, and building codes.
• Valid HVAC certification (e.g., EPA Section 608) and any required state or local licenses.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and perform tasks in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to travel to multiple job sites.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship in HVAC preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with both residential and commercial systems.
• Knowledge of smart thermostats, energy-efficient systems, and modern HVAC technologies.
• Familiarity with project management or scheduling software.
