Required Experience in Industrial Operations

Candidates must have substantial hands-on engineering experience working in environments such as:

  • Chemical Manufacturing
  • Oil & Gas
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Power Generation
  • Utilities
  • Food & Beverage
  • Heavy Manufacturing
  • Industrial Automation

You understand the realities of production environments and can identify opportunities where AI can improve engineering productivity, operational efficiency, and process visibility.

Experience with any of the following is highly valuable:

  • Process Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Industrial Automation
  • Process Operations
  • Industrial Process Visualization
  • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • SCADA systems
  • Industrial Historians
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Industrial analytics platforms
  • Engineering documentation systems

Required:

  • Ability to read and discuss process flows, engineering documentation, and industrial systems.
  • Ability to work directly with process engineers and manufacturing subject matter experts without requiring extensive domain training.

AI & Technical Experience

You have practical experience building production AI solutions, including:

  • Agentic AI systems
  • Multi-agent workflows
  • LLM orchestration
  • AI systems that execute tasks—not simply answer questions
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • Vector databases and semantic search
  • Knowledge retrieval from engineering documentation
  • AI Skills and Tool development
  • Agent state management
  • Workflow orchestration
  • Evaluation, testing, and monitoring of AI systems

You understand how to build AI that engineers can trust in production environments.

Enterprise AI Experience

Experience deploying AI in enterprise environments where reliability matters, including:

  • AI governance
  • Data privacy
  • Security
  • Guardrails
  • Traceability
  • Deterministic testing
  • Production monitoring

Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

  • Industrial visualization platforms
  • Digital twins
  • Industrial IoT
  • Process simulation software
  • Industrial historians
  • Manufacturing execution systems (MES)
  • Engineering design platforms
  • Enterprise manufacturing software

What Success Looks Like

You'll be successful in this role if you're equally comfortable discussing:

  • Production challenges
  • Process engineering workflows
  • Manufacturing operations
  • Industrial visualization
  • AI architecture
  • Enterprise software
  • Long-term technical strategy

Most importantly, you enjoy applying AI to solve practical engineering problems - not building AI for its own sake.

If you're excited about helping engineers work more efficiently, simplifying complex industrial processes, and delivering AI solutions that improve real manufacturing operations, we'd love to hear from you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As the technical leader for AI initiatives, you'll define architecture, develop production-grade agentic AI systems, and collaborate with engineering, product, QA, and domain experts to bring practical AI capabilities into an industrial software platform.

As the Lead Industrial Engineer, you'll develop AI solutions that improve how engineers interact with complex industrial systems by:

  • Designing production-ready AI agents that convert engineering requests into industrial dashboards and visualizations
  • Building AI workflows that reduce manual engineering effort and streamline repetitive production tasks
  • Creating intelligent retrieval systems that reason over engineering documentation, process standards, P&IDs, operating procedures, and existing platform assets
  • Developing reusable AI tools that safely interact with enterprise industrial software
  • Applying AI to solve real manufacturing and process engineering challenges, not simply generate content
  • Working closely with process engineers, product teams, QA, and documentation specialists to continuously improve AI accuracy and usability
  • Designing secure, traceable, enterprise-grade AI systems with governance, reliability, and deterministic behavior
  • Defining the long-term technical strategy for AI capabilities across the platform

Lead AI Engineer – Industrial AI & Agentic Systems
Location: Remote (U.S.)
Candidates must not require any form of sponsorship, currently or in the future. We do not accept applications from third-party recruiters or staffing agencies.

If your background combines industrial engineering, chemical/process engineering, manufacturing systems, or industrial operations with hands-on experience applying AI to improve production environments, this is an opportunity to have a significant impact. We're looking for an engineer who understands how industrial facilities operate—and who uses AI as a practical tool to improve engineering workflows, accelerate decision making, and streamline production processes.

The ideal candidate started their career solving manufacturing, process, plant, or industrial engineering problems and later adopted AI as a tool to improve those environments.

Important: This role is intended for engineers with significant experience in manufacturing, process engineering, industrial operations, chemical processing, industrial automation, or production systems. Candidates whose experience is primarily software engineering, web development, consumer AI applications, or general-purpose machine learning without industrial domain expertise will not be considered for this role.

Instead, you'll work at the intersection of industrial operations and AI, building intelligent systems that help engineers solve production challenges more efficiently.

Our enterprise visualization platform is used by some of the world's largest industrial organizations across chemical manufacturing, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, power generation, utilities, and other process industries. Your work will enable engineers to transform natural language requests into production-ready process visualizations, engineering dashboards, and operational insights using existing engineering standards, plant documentation, and industrial data.
