Lead Industrial Mechanic – Heavy Manufacturing

Location: Northwest Houston, TX
Position: Full-Time

A well-established industrial company is seeking an experienced Lead Industrial Mechanic to lead mechanical maintenance efforts supporting heavy processing and manufacturing equipment.

This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced industrial mechanic with strong hydraulic troubleshooting and repair expertise. The Lead Industrial Mechanic will work directly on heavy production equipment while leading and mentoring other maintenance technicians to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily mechanical maintenance activities and provide hands-on direction and support to maintenance technicians.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and rebuild high-pressure industrial hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, and related components.
  • Perform and oversee mechanical repairs on heavy processing and production machinery.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and respond quickly to production breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Perform mechanical alignments, gear repairs, bearing replacements, and other precision mechanical work.
  • Develop, schedule, and execute preventative maintenance programs for production equipment.
  • Perform MIG/stick welding, fabrication, and basic torch cutting as needed for equipment repair and modification.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment blueprints, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Mentor and develop junior maintenance technicians while promoting safe and effective maintenance practices.
  • Work closely with production and operations teams to maintain equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on industrial mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Advanced experience troubleshooting and repairing high-pressure industrial hydraulic systems.
  • Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining heavy processing or production machinery.
  • Strong experience with pumps, valves, cylinders, bearings, gears, motors, and other mechanical components.
  • Ability to perform mechanical alignments and diagnose complex equipment problems.
  • Proficiency with MIG/stick welding and basic torch cutting.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, blueprints, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to reliably commute to and commit to working in Northwest Houston.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within the steel, metals, heavy manufacturing, or industrial processing industry.
  • Experience maintaining slitting lines, cut-to-length lines, coil processing equipment, or similar heavy machinery.
  • Previous experience training or mentoring industrial maintenance technicians.
