Meade, MDSecret clearance**This position is contingent upon contract award** Job Description Semper Valens Solutions is seeking an experienced Lead IA / Security Specialist to support a program in the Fort Meade, MD area. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your leadership, technical expertise, and DoD experience to guide complex programs supporting U.S. Government and military customers.Serves as the senior cybersecurity and information assurance lead responsible for protecting information systems, ensuring compliance with federal and organizational security requirements, and guiding risk management activities across IT programs.Key Responsibilities: Lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of Information Assurance (IA) and cybersecurity policies, procedures, and controlsServe as the primary security authority supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, including system authorization (ATO), control selection, and continuous monitoringOversee and mentor IA/cybersecurity staff, ensuring alignment with program and organizational objectivesConduct and coordinate security assessments, vulnerability analyses, and risk mitigation strategiesEnsure compliance with NIST 800-53, NIST RMF, DoDI 8510.01, FISMA, and other applicable cybersecurity standardsCollaborate with program managers, system engineers, and stakeholders to integrate security throughout the system development lifecycle (SDLC) using Agile/Scrum methodologiesManage and review security artifacts, including System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, SARs, and risk assessmentsSupport incident response, auditing, and continuous monitoring activitiesProvide strategic guidance on cybersecurity architecture, system hardening, and data protectionQualifications / RequirementsU.S. Citizenship requiredActive Secret ClearanceBachelor of Arts (BA)/Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or Computer Science disciplineMinimum four years of DoD‑related experience supporting U.S. military or other Government agencies.
