    Job Description

Lead Installer / Final Assembly – Trade Shows & Custom Fabrication

    Full-Time | Mooresville, NC | Travel Required

Breakthrough Productions is looking for an experienced Lead Installer / Final Assembly Technician to join our custom fabrication team.

We build custom trade show exhibits, experiential marketing activations, branded environments, displays, cabinetry, and other one-of-a-kind projects. We need someone who understands how things are actually supposed to fit together, function, and get installed in the real world.

This is not a traditional production-line assembly position.

This person will be one of the final sets of eyes on our projects before they reach our clients. When a project requires installation, you'll travel with our team to trade shows, events, and client locations to perform and lead the final setup. When you're not traveling, you'll work in our Mooresville shop assembling, testing, and preparing projects before they ship.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Field Installation

A major part of this position is installing the projects we fabricate.

    You will:

    • Travel to trade shows, events, activations, and client locations for installations and dismantles.

    • Assemble custom displays, cabinetry, millwork, scenic elements, fixtures, and branded environments.

    • Lead or work alongside installation crews and onsite labor.

    • Install and integrate graphics, lighting, electronics, TVs, shelving, hardware, and other components.

    • Read drawings and determine how components are intended to assemble.

    • Troubleshoot problems and make adjustments in the field when conditions don't match the plan.

    • Make sure the finished installation is clean, functional, accurate, and client-ready.

    • Represent Breakthrough professionally while working around clients, vendors, venues, and other trades.

Previous cabinet, millwork, trade show, exhibit, scenic, retail fixture, or commercial installation experience is a major plus.

    Final Assembly & Shop Mock-Ups

When you're not traveling, you'll work in our shop completing the final assembly and QC of projects before they ship.

    You'll:

    • Assemble completed components into full or partial mock-ups.

    • Confirm everything fits together correctly.

    • Test doors, drawers, hinges, locks, panels, shelving, lighting, electronics, and hardware.

    • Verify connection points and installation methods.

    • Make sure projects can be efficiently assembled, disassembled, and reassembled.

    • Compare the completed project against drawings and approved renderings.

    • Identify problems before they become problems onsite.

    • Help make corrections and adjustments when necessary.

    The goal is simple:

We want to discover problems in our shop—not at the client's event.

    Final Project Prep

You'll work closely with our Production, Procurement, Project Management, and Shipping teams to make sure everything needed for an installation is accounted for.

    That can include:

    • Installation hardware

    • Graphics and vinyl

    • TVs and electronics

    • Lighting

    • Greenery

    • Furniture

    • Client-supplied products

    • Purchased components

    • Specialty tools

    • Replacement parts

    • Assembly instructions

You'll help ensure components and hardware are clearly labeled and organized so that someone who wasn't involved in building the project can understand how it goes together.

    Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, experienced with their hands, and takes pride in figuring out how things work.

A strong candidate may come from a background in:

    • Trade show or exhibit installation

    • Cabinet installation

    • Commercial millwork installation

    • Custom cabinetry

    • Retail fixture installation

    • Scenic fabrication

    • Event production

    • Custom fabrication

    • Finish carpentry

    • Commercial construction

    • Display or architectural installation

You don't necessarily need to come directly from the trade show industry. If you've installed cabinets, millwork, fixtures, displays, or other custom-built products in the field, your experience may translate extremely well.

    Skills We're Looking For

    • Strong mechanical and problem-solving ability

    • Experience using common hand and power tools

    • Ability to read shop drawings and assembly drawings

    • Cabinet or millwork installation experience is highly desirable

    • Ability to accurately assemble custom fabricated components

    • Understanding of hardware, fasteners, hinges, connection methods, and installation techniques

    • Ability to troubleshoot and make field adjustments

    • Strong attention to detail

    • Ability to work independently without needing constant direction

    • Comfortable communicating with project managers, clients, vendors, and other trades

    • Ability to work efficiently when installation schedules are tight

    • Willingness and ability to travel

    Travel & Schedule

    This position requires travel.

Projects may require travel to trade shows, corporate events, experiential activations, and client locations throughout the United States.

Event installation work does not always happen Monday through Friday from 9–5. Some projects may require:

    • Early mornings

    • Late nights

    • Weekend work

    • Overnight travel

    • Multi-day trips

When you're not traveling, you'll work primarily from our fabrication facility in Mooresville, NC.

    What Success Looks Like

You're successful in this role when:

    • Projects leave the shop complete and properly tested.

    • Installation hardware and components aren't missing.

    • Displays assemble onsite the same way they did in the shop.

    • Problems are identified before shipment whenever possible.

    • Installations are completed safely and on schedule.

    • The finished product matches what the client purchased.

    • Our project managers can confidently send you into the field knowing you'll get the job across the finish line.

We're looking for someone who can look at a project and confidently answer:

“Is this actually ready to install?”

If your answer is yes, we want the entire team to know they can trust it.

    You should be proficient in:

    • Troubleshooting Skills
    • Tape Measure Reading
    • Cabinet Installation
    • Equipment Installation
    • Shop Math Skills
    • Blueprint Reading
    • event management
    • tradeshows
