Powell builds industry-leading switchgear and electrical equipment. We’re expanding our Southeast Houston team and seeking a Lead Inventory Control & Kitting Specialist. You’ll keep materials organized, documented, and delivered to the right workstations—exactly when they’re needed.
Shift
Monday–Thursday, 2:15 p.m.–12:45 a.m.; overtime as needed.
What You’ll Tackle
- Own receiving, put-away, and documentation for incoming and existing stock.
- Check in with production teams to forecast and respond to material requirements.
- Kit and replenish hardware and components to assigned work areas.
- Use scanners and computer applications to maintain accurate inventory and equipment records.
- Move, load, and unload materials with a forklift when required.
- Follow safety procedures rigorously to prevent incidents.
- Apply manufacturing policies and standard work to support consistent throughput.
- Protect product quality by following process instructions and reporting potential issues.
Must-Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 4+ years in a material handling role within manufacturing.
- Comfortable in a high-velocity production environment.
- Ability to learn and use databases and software tools.
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, and stay active for long stretches.
- English fluency for effective teamwork and communication.
Nice-to-Haves
- Forklift certification/experience.
- Background in industrial or warehouse operations.

Where You’ll Work
- Safety-sensitive role in a temperature-controlled manufacturing/industrial setting with occasional outdoor work.
- PPE required: safety shoes, hard hats, bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection as needed, and fall protection/harnesses when required.
- Comfort with step ladders, A-frame ladders, and scissor lifts for overhead work.
- Tasks at heights up to about 10 feet using proper lift equipment.
Physical Capability
- Maintain balance and agility while walking, standing, crouching, and using stairs or step ladders.
- Bend at waist and knees; extend arms and hands in all directions.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently work above shoulder height and at full arm extension with both arms.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Use hand and power tools regularly.
