Nantucket's only year-round Irish pub seeks qualified lead line cook.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Leadership: Directing the kitchen team, assigning tasks, training new hires, and mentoring line cooks to maintain standards set by the Executive Chef & Sous Chef.
- Food Prep & Quality Control: Cooking menu items, overseeing food quality/consistency, managing inventory, and ensuring correct portioning, contributing to daily lunch and dinner specials.
- Operational Management: Setting up/closing the kitchen, managing inventory, ensuring sanitation (HACCP) compliance, and managing food safety.
- Communication: Acting as the point person for all inquiries during the shift, communicating with management and front-of-house staff. Resolving issues with food quality or service during peak times and managing station efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 2-3+ years of restaurant cooking experience required, prior leadership experience preferred.
- Culinary Knowledge: Expert knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Leadership: Strong verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to handle pressure.
- Certification: ServSafe certification is often preferred.
