The Line Technician Lead is responsible for overseeing all aircraft ground handling and ramp operations during assigned shifts while delivering exceptional customer service to aircraft owners, passengers, guests, and flight crews. In addition to performing all Line Technician duties, the Line Technician Lead coordinates ramp activities, guides and supports Line Service Technicians, and ensures all aircraft receive timely, safe, and professional ground support services with high energy and a positive attitude.

Ramp & Aircraft Operations

  • Coordinate all aircraft and ramp activity during assigned shifts
  • Ensure aircraft receive all required ground support services in a safe, timely, and efficient manner
  • Perform aircraft movement, placement, parking, storage, de-icing, and fueling
  • Operate a wide variety of aircraft ground support equipment
  • Maintain situational awareness of ramp activity, including aircraft movement, foreign object debris (FOD), and weather-related procedures

Leadership & Shift Coordination

  • Delegate and assign duties to qualified Line Service Technicians during assigned shifts
  • Monitor work progress and performance of Line Service Technicians on duty
  • Assess results and provide direction to ensure operational standards are met
  • Support safe and efficient ramp operations in the absence of a Manager or Supervisor

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to all company safety policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures
  • Promote a culture of safety by protecting customers, employees, aircraft, and equipment
  • Make sound, timely decisions consistent with company policies, safety regulations, and operational requirements

Training & Development

  • Assist the Line Manager and Line Technician Trainer with onboarding and training of new employees
  • Reinforce proper operational, safety, and customer service standards through daily leadership

Customer Service

  • Deliver Modern Aviation's excellent service by proactively assisting passengers and flight crews
  • Anticipate customer needs and consistently exceed service expectations
  • Promote and maintain a positive, professional image of Modern Aviation with customers, vendors, and the community

Administrative & Reporting

  • Complete shift reports and maintain required operational documentation
  • Perform work with minimal supervision while ensuring accuracy and accountability

General Responsibilities

  • Understand and exemplify what it means to be a partner at Modern Aviation
  • Acknowledge and safely manage exposure to loud noise levels, chemicals, fumes, machinery, and inclement weather
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Lead or Line Manager
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness and ability to work any assigned shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional mathematical skills
  • Physically able to stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of various aircraft types preferred

Working conditions and physical demands for this role -

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and loud noise levels. The role involves exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme heat and cold, high or precarious places, outside weather conditions, vibration, and chemicals including aviation fuels, oils, and lavatory fluids.

Modern Aviation's Pay Range -

$22.00 - $24.00/hr. + benefits.

The Modern Aviation pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
