The Lead Mailroom Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely handling of all incoming, outgoing, and interoffice mail. This role ensures efficient mail operations across departments and branches while maintaining postage accuracy, delivery schedules, and mailroom organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail to appropriate departments and branch locations
Process incoming and outgoing envelopes and packages from carriers such as UPS, FedEx, and US Government Client
Determine correct postage and affix postage using the mail metering machine
Maintain accurate records of outgoing mail and postage usage
Prepare and stage outgoing mail for end-of-day carrier pickup
Serve as a point of contact for mail-related questions and inquiries
Assist with ordering, organizing, and storing mailroom supplies
Perform minor data entry and respond to mail-related emails as needed
Assist with other administrative duties as assigned
Perform occasional lifting of boxes weighing 30 50 pounds
Applies basic job skills with the ability to develop advanced skills related to mailroom operations
1 2 years of experience in a mailroom or similar operational role preferred
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage daily priorities
Reliable, punctual, and able to meet daily deadlines
High School diploma or equivalentA
