Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Must show the ability and skill needed to:
Operate maneuvering equipment such as:
Forklifts
Skyjacks
Boom lifts
Operate modern office equipment.
Operate a motor vehicle safely.
Implement and use equipment diagnostic tools and instruments.
Perform a full range of building maintenance duties.
Troubleshoot electrical, HVAC, mechanical and plumbing problems.
Supervise, train, and assist in evaluating staff and contractors.
Direct and coordinate work assignments of assigned maintenance staff.
Prepare, develop, and recommend plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Report needed cost estimates in relation to the assigned sub-department for the Facilities budget.
Read and understand blueprints (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing).
Read and understand security and surveillance systems schematics.
Prepare and keep up with clear and concise reports.
Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
Exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs of the department.
Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with all involved throughout the day, whether it be coworkers inside the department or fellow employees in the County.
Interpret and apply Federal, State, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations as they pertain to Facilities Services.
Understand and implement all safety requirements for Bell County Facility Services to ensure the safety of all employees in the department as well as all County employees.
Work in and around extremely stressful environments.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent and four (4) to eight (8) years of experience in performing building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, alarm systems and minor construction maintenance and repairs; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
