Engineering Manager, Manufacturing & Projects

About the Role:
The Engineering Manager, Manufacturing & Projects role is designed for a high-performing Lead Engineer ready to expand beyond technical execution into owning projects, people, and manufacturing outcomes.

You’ll lead engineering for a portfolio of gas drying, humidification, and sample conditioning products used across medical, environmental, and industrial applications. The work involves translating complex, high-performance designs into scalable, reliable, and compliant manufacturing systems. You won’t just support production—you’ll shape how products are built, improved, and scaled.

What You’ll Own:
  • End-to-end manufacturing engineering across a diverse gas handling product portfolio
  • Project leadership from concept through production implementation
  • Design transfer and process scale-up for new products
  • Automation and cost reduction initiatives
  • A team of engineers, technicians, and machine shop personnel
  • Manufacturing readiness across regulated and performance-critical applications
  • Safety, compliance, and facility performance

Your Impact: Lead Projects & Deliver Outcomes:
  • Own engineering programs from concept through implementation (scope, budget, timeline)
  • Drive automation and cost reduction initiatives tied to business goals
  • Lead root-cause investigations and implement sustainable solutions
  • Communicate progress and influence decisions at the leadership level

Translate Complex Products into Scalable Manufacturing:
  • Develop processes for membrane-based systems, tubing assemblies, and gas flow devices
  • Ensure consistent performance in applications involving moisture removal, humidification, and gas purification
  • Lead validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) across product lines

Support a High-Mix Manufacturing Environment:
  • Build flexible processes for low-to-mid volume, high-mix production
  • Support products used in:
    • Medical (respiratory care, gas monitoring)
    • Environmental (emissions monitoring systems)
    • Industrial process applications

Grow Into People Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Transition from hands-on execution to setting direction and enabling others
  • Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement

Drive Operational Excellence:
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve throughput and reduce waste
  • Establish and maintain standardized work, PFMEAs, and process documentation
  • Ensure equipment reliability through preventive maintenance programs

Ensure Quality & Compliance:
  • Operate within FDA, ISO 13485, and ISO 9001 frameworks
  • Partner with Quality on CAPAs, audits, and risk management
  • Build systems that balance compliance with speed and practicality

Own the Manufacturing Environment:
  • Oversee equipment for precision assembly, extrusion, and gas/fluid systems
  • Lead facility improvements and expansion projects
  • Serve as Safety Officer, ensuring OSHA compliance and strong safety practices

What Makes This Role Different:
  • Clear step-up path: Designed for Lead Engineers moving into broader ownership
  • Project-centered leadership: You’ll be measured on outcomes, not activity
  • Technical depth: Work on complex gas handling and membrane-based systems
  • High visibility: Direct impact on cost, quality, and delivery
  • Build & scale: Opportunity to shape processes, systems, and team structure

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical, or related)
  • 7+ years of experience, including time as a technical or project lead
  • Proven experience leading engineering projects end-to-end
  • Strong problem-solving skills in complex, multi-variable systems
  • Desire to grow into people and organizational leadership

Valued Experience:
  • Regulated manufacturing (medical device or similar)
  • Fluid systems, gas handling, filtration, or membrane technologies
  • Tubing, extrusion, or flow-control systems
  • Automation of assembly or testing processes
  • Lean / Six Sigma methodologies

Who Thrives Here:
  • Engineers ready to own projects, not just contribute to them
  • Leaders who want to build teams and systems from the ground up
  • Problem-solvers who move easily between hands-on work and strategic decisions
  • Individuals motivated by real-world product impact in critical applications

Success Looks Like:
  • Projects delivered on time, on budget, and with measurable impact
  • Scalable, stable manufacturing processes across product lines
  • Improved yield, efficiency, and product consistency
  • Strong alignment between engineering, quality, and operations
  • A capable, accountable, and growing engineering team
