Job Description Summary

The Lead Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Specialist will work in a production shop environment and serve as manufacturing engineer, learning the processes, hardware, specs, and quality requirements in Lynn Plant 1 - Rotating Parts Manufacturing Organization (RPMO). As a Lead ME, you will have hardware ownership of rotating parts (combination of spools and disks) in support of Defense Engines such as the F110, F404, F414, T408, CF34.

RPMO is also undergoing a transformation during 2026-2027, as we are moving our production line across the plant to implement modular cells, which will expose them to lean principles and techniques. This is an invaluable opportunity to be in a dynamic area with regular report outs and visibility to senior leadership. Manufacturing Engineer will be coached and given autonomy to have a fulfilling role with plenty of opportunity to learn and grow. High opportunity area for RCCA and process improvement.

KPIs include (safety) improvement of I&I''s, (quality) first time yield improvements and Cost of Quality (rework and scrap), (delivery) parts shipped, (inventory) reduction of aged WIP, (productivity) process improvements to increase efficiency.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the manufacturing product engineer for rotating hardware components, with end-to-end ownership of manufacturing support and process performance
  • Lead efforts to improve ergonomics, safety, and overall shop-floor execution
  • Drive improvements in First Time Yield (FTY), productivity, and manufacturing efficiency
  • Reduce inactive hardware, aged work-in-process (WIP), and cost of quality (CoQ)
  • Support process redesign and layout optimization using lean principles and continuous improvement methods
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure performance supports delivery commitments for a $65M business

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or (a high school diploma with at least 4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting).
  • A minimum of 3 additional years of experience in manufacturing/production.
  • GE Leadership Program Graduate in lieu of experience is permitted.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, especially mechanical or aerospace engineer.
  • Advanced experience in manufacturing or production.
  • Experience with CNC machining, vertical/horizontal lathe, milling, surface enhancement
  • Improvement & escape prevention, Technical requirements & process control, GD&T, blueprint reading, problem solving, lean manufacturing
  • Demonstrated success working in a unionized manufacturing environment, with understanding of role boundaries, partnership expectations, and effective coordination across represented and salaried teams.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across operations, quality, engineering, planning, and maintenance to resolve issues and improve shop performance.

The base pay range for this position is $100,050-$120,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on September 17, 2026.
