We are looking for a Lead Mechanic with 7 to 10 years of experience to take ownership of maintenance and repair across our fleet of automobiles, dump trucks, tractor-trailers, construction equipment, and snow removal equipment. This role combines hands-on diagnostic and repair work with technical leadership in the shop, including mentoring less experienced technicians and helping keep the fleet field-ready year-round.

    • Repair and maintain snow removal equipment, including truck plows, pushers, and Kage plows
    • Perform routine preventive maintenance and pre-return-to-field quality inspections on all fleet and equipment
    • Use diagnostic tools and software to test vehicle and equipment components and troubleshoot root causes
    • Complete fabrication and welding both in the shop and on-site as repairs require
    • Operate a service truck to perform on-site repairs at job sites
    • Maintain accurate daily logs and repair records, including outstanding repair needs
    • Serve as a technical resource for other mechanics; participate in ongoing training, both digital and classroom-based, and help build shop capability over time
    • Work outside normal business hours as workload and seasonal demands require (including snow events)

    Qualifications

    • 7 to 10 years of mechanic experience, including heavy equipment, diesel, and fleet maintenance
    • Extensive knowledge of air brake systems
    • Strong diagnostic ability, including electrical systems, wiring diagrams, diesel engine and drivability issues, and diagnostic software
    • Working knowledge of shop equipment and safe shop practices
    • Comfortable working both indoors in a shop setting and outdoors on active construction sites
    • Able to follow written and verbal instructions, work efficiently under deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong attendance and punctuality; self-motivated team player
    • Able to lift 60+ pounds regularly
    • DOT inspector certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire

    Requirements

    • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record. CDL Class A preferred, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
    • Must supply own hand tools
    • Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid DOT health card

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Competitive pay based on experience, certifications, and CDL status
    • Flexible work schedule
    • Retirement plan with company match
    • Health and dental insurance
    • Paid vacation and additional benefits
