We are looking for a Mechanical Design Lead with strong engineering fundamentals and a first-principles mindset to own the cradle to grave design of power electronics in our Energy products.
As a technical lead, you will contribute to the design of complex, tightly integrated, high-volume electromechanical systems while also guiding a small team of mechanical engineers through the complete product design cycle.
In this role, you will lead technical direction and solve multifaceted design problems related to/including power magnetics, thermal design, high-voltage insulation, and PCBA packaging. You will work closely with Product, Reliability, Manufacturing, and Supply chain teams to develop and launch creative, innovative, and robust designs that lead industry and ship at scale.
- Serve as the mechanical system technical owner of residential or industrial Power Electronics product lines to drive design excellence, technical innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Foster a collaborative working environment and support technical growth and career development of at least 3-4 mechanical engineers
- Enforce technical rigor, organization, and schedule discipline during product design cycles, ensuring key programmatic and technical goals are achieved
- Brainstorm, review, and approve
- Design and integrate electromechanical assemblies for residential energy product lines, including power magnetics, high and low voltage interconnects, high-pressure die castings, injection molded plastics
- Solve complex packaging challenges that require high-voltage insulation, IP67+ sealing, EMI performance, and long-term environmental reliability while ensuring high-volume (1,000's/wk+) manufacturability
- Use CATIA 3DX to 3D model components, integrate systems, and create 2D drawings using GD&T
- 7+ years of relevant product design experience
- 2+ years of design leadership experience
- Demonstrated technical excellence (portfolio preferred) in electromechanical design and analysis
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and physics-based first-principles problem solving acumen for structural and thermal problems
- Familiarity with power electronics components (PCBAs, MOSFETs, Inductors, Transformers)
- Experience in designing for high-volume production and automated manufacturing processes, including injection molding, stamping, die casting, fastening, dispensing, and joining
- Proficiency in CAD modeling and PLM / change management systems: CATIA V5 or 3DX preferred
- Experience with designing against certification standards (UL, IEC, GB) and obtaining certificates
- Detail-oriented personality with strong written and verbal communication / reporting skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Expected Compensation
$156,000 - $234,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
