We're seeking a Lead Mechanical Designer specializing in Piping in Fort Worth, TX to produce detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings for commercial mechanical projects.
Impact
- Deliver fabrication-ready piping models that reduce field installation time and material waste
- Improve coordination quality by resolving spatial conflicts before construction begins
- Support prefabrication initiatives that drive cost savings and schedule improvements
- Mentor junior designers to build team modeling capabilities
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 3D models of mechanical piping and plumbing systems using Revit or AutoCAD MEP
- Generate fabrication-ready spool drawings, isometrics, and installation details
- Coordinate piping layouts with other trades to resolve spatial conflicts
- Review design documents and specifications to ensure model accuracy
- Support clash detection sessions and document resolution actions
- Coordinate with fabrication shops on model-to-production workflows
- Mentor junior designers on modeling standards and best practices
- Maintain project file organization and documentation standards
Requirements
Must-Haves
- 5+ years of mechanical piping design or detailing experience
- Proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD, or equivalent 3D modeling software
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical construction and P&ID drawings
- Knowledge of piping materials, fittings, and fabrication methods
- Strong attention to detail and spatial reasoning skills
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with plumbing system design as well as piping
- Familiarity with Navisworks, Trimble, or fabrication software
- Knowledge of ASME, ANSI, or local plumbing codes
- Degree or certificate in drafting, design technology, or engineering
