Lead Mechanical Electrical EngineerReporting to the Sr. Manager of Engineering & Facilities, Job Summary: Leads the team and provides technical expertise to support company objectives in engineering design, new product introduction, technical transfer, process development, and implementation, with a primary focus on packaging equipment and fully integrated, automated packaging lines. Serves as the engineering point of contact for non-sterile filling and secondary packaging systems and processes. Projects may include manufacturing systems, non-sterile filling systems, packaging systems, vision systems, process piping, utility systems, facility construction and upgrades, serialization, and other packaging control systems. This position includes direct supervisory responsibilities.Essential Duties / ResponsibilitiesGuide and manage the teamEnsure the adequacy of the team's training and authorizations in relation to department projects and tasksManage the team's schedule via ADP softwareCarry out scheduled evaluations to assess the development and performance of team membersDefine action priorities in relation to resources and deadlinesDevelop the skills and autonomy of the teamEnsure budget reporting and monitoringEnsure complete reporting (project monitoring, monitoring of investment commitments, overheads) to Site ManagementMeasure progress in achieving operating and investment budget commitments and propose refocusing actions if necessaryEngage in technical discussions with potential suppliersOrganize and write specifications based on needs and requirementsLaunch calls for tenders (Request for Proposal, Request for Service)Ensure the solution designed respects established specificationsDocument and validate any technical choices that deviate from established specifications or internal customer expectationsExecute projects and tasks to approved completion deadlines and within defined budgetWork in partnership with external companiesPropose and apply solutions to mitigate and compensate for possible work delaysProactively alert site management to potential problemsEnsure successful commissioning of projectsMonitor installations and commissioning of equipmentCoordinate suppliers and vendors and ensure compliance with health and safety instructionsApply technical expertise for problem resolutionRespect specifications dataCoordinate with production to align activities with production constraintsAssist with commissioning activities and putting equipment into productionCarry out assessments after each commissioningServe in an expert role for qualification protocol, test execution, and report approvalParticipate in operator trainingWork with internal customers to define training requirements and provide technical contentOrganize training with suppliersStudy technical needs for new site investmentsParticipate in project groupsCollect and analyze needs from internal stakeholdersDefine technical solutions and implementationsRespect technical, regulatory and quality requirements issued by Management and Quality AssuranceAccount for parameters such as water production, energy, etc.Adhere to flows, workshop ergonomics and safety constraintsMaintain and update documentation of completed projectsCollect technical drawings from vendors and ensure alignment with realized designCreate factory technical drawings and update per documentation practicesApply Lean Methodologies, 5S/6SDemonstrate experience in process, equipment or technology changes to improve safety, quality, cost and efficiencyYour profileRequired Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline. Master's degree considered a plus.Qualifications / Experience:Minimum 5 years in manufacturing or equipment and packaging technologyExperience in a regulated environment (FDA) preferredSupervisory experience a plusStrong background in technical troubleshooting and problem solvingDetailed knowledge of equipment operation and validation requirementsAbility to work in a matrix organization with cross-functional teamsAbility to specify, procure, oversee installation, and commission systems and processing equipmentProficient in P&ID reading and writingProficient in CAD or alternative design softwareStrong project management skills, PMP preferredProficient knowledge of pharmaceutical cGMP or HACCP requirements and systemsExperience with Hygienic Design / Sanitary Design preferredLean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferredPhysical Requirements / Environment: Traditional office environment with frequent visits to production areas, loading docks and laboratories. Must work on computer for extended periods, wear safety glasses and other protective items. Experience daily sitting 75% of the day, standing or walking 25%.
