Our client, a global leader in bioethanol, biofuels, and biochemical process technologies, is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer – Process & Plant Design to help deliver innovative process technology projects from concept development through startup.
 
Salary Range: $110,000–$135,000 annually. Compensation is negotiable and commensurate with experience, technical expertise, industry background, and overall qualifications.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical engineering function (20% team leadership, 80% hands-on design).
  • Develop and maintain piping specifications, mechanical standards, and design details.
  • Create and review 2D/3D engineering packages using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  • Interpret and update PFDs, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Review vendor drawings, fabrication packages, and equipment data sheets.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations, pump sizing, and rotating equipment selection.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ensure compliance with TEMA, ASME, ASTM, API, and NFPA standards.
 
Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in chemical, biofuel, process manufacturing, or capital project environments.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD Plant 3D, P&ID development, hydraulics, pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, and process piping.
  • Experience with Navisworks, Bluebeam, pump sizing software, Fisher Spec Manager, and Microsoft Excel/VBA preferred.
  • FE or PE certification preferred.
