Lead Mechanical Engineer (PE)
Charlotte, NC | On-Site
Full-Time | $120 $150K, depending on experience Summary:
We are seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) with a strong background in HVAC system design for commercial and/or multifamily residential projects.
This role combines technical leadership, client interaction, and mentorship responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will be capable of owning projects from concept through construction, while leading a small team of junior engineers and designers.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of HVAC systems for commercial and multifamily residential projects.
Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing (e.g., chillers, boilers, VRF, rooftop units, etc.).
Develop and review construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and energy efficiency requirements.
Serve as a technical point of contact for:
Code officials and permitting authorities
Architects and design teams
Building owners and stakeholders
Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, providing technical oversight and quality control.
Participate in project planning, scheduling, and coordination across disciplines.
Conduct site visits and field evaluations; travel as needed to support projects.
Support construction administration, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and issue resolution.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
PE License
10+ years of HVAC design experience with a strong background with commercial or multi family projects
Revit knowledge
Ability to mentor junior staff
