Description
Lead Mechanical Engineer (PE)
Charlotte, NC | On-Site
Full-Time | $120 $150K, depending on experience
Summary:
- We are seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) with a strong background in HVAC system design for commercial and/or multifamily residential projects.
- This role combines technical leadership, client interaction, and mentorship responsibilities.
- The ideal candidate will be capable of owning projects from concept through construction, while leading a small team of junior engineers and designers.
- Lead the design and development of HVAC systems for commercial and multifamily residential projects.
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing (e.g., chillers, boilers, VRF, rooftop units, etc.).
- Develop and review construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and energy efficiency requirements.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for:
- Code officials and permitting authorities
- Architects and design teams
- Building owners and stakeholders
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, providing technical oversight and quality control.
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, and coordination across disciplines.
- Conduct site visits and field evaluations; travel as needed to support projects.
- Support construction administration, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and issue resolution.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
- PE License
- 10+ years of HVAC design experience with a strong background with commercial or multi family projects
- Revit knowledge
- Ability to mentor junior staff
