Lead Mechatronics Systems Technician (Marine Propulsion)
Location: San Diego, CA
Compensation: $35–$42 per hour (commensurate with experience)

A Day in the Role
You begin your day reviewing build plans for a subsea thruster assembly. With drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions in hand, you map out the integration steps, validate parts and tooling, and get to work. Midway through testing, a sensor doesn’t read as expected—you isolate the fault, trace it to a cable termination, and implement a clean rework. By afternoon, you’re collaborating with an engineer to fine-tune a test setup and capturing notes to improve a future work instruction. This isn’t repetitive assembly; it’s full lifecycle ownership—from build, integration, and functional test to troubleshooting and delivery-ready sign-off.
What You’ll Take Ownership Of
- Building and integrating complex electro-mechanical systems and subassemblies
- Performing precision mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, cabling, and component install
- Working hands-on with motors, actuators, sensors, connectors, and related components
- Reading and applying mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Executing functional tests and verifying performance against requirements
- Troubleshooting at electrical, mechanical, and system levels to resolve issues
- Diagnosing failures, determining root cause, and driving corrective actions with limited oversight
- Reworking, repairing, adjusting, and modifying assemblies as needed
- Partnering directly with engineers to solve technical and production challenges
- Flagging documentation, process, or design gaps encountered during builds and proposing improvements
- Owning assigned products through build, test, debug, and final readiness for shipment
What You Bring
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as an electro-mechanical technician (preferred)
- Background assembling, integrating, testing, troubleshooting, or repairing complete electro-mechanical equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude plus practical electrical/electronic troubleshooting capability
- Documented ability to independently identify issues and implement solutions
- Experience with mechanical assemblies, wiring/termination, motors, actuators, and sensors
- Fluency reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
- Confidence using electrical test instruments and standard mechanical measurement tools
- Comfort working with evolving processes/docs and tackling problems without a prewritten procedure
- Meticulous attention to detail and a quality-first mindset
