Location: Lancaster, PA

Schedule: Full-time, Days - 7am -3:30pm, every 4th weekend, rotating holidays. Overlap onto off shifts as needed

Summary:

  • Position Summary: Responsible for providing operational and technical support to the Laboratory Management Team and staff in a concentrated area of laboratory medicine e.g. Quality Analysis, Point of Care, Reference Testing, or, Physician Office Ambulatory Representation .
  • Qualified individuals must have the ability with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties:
  • Functions as a Medical Technologist, as required.
  • Maintains expertise within specialty and shares this knowledge with team members. Maintains sufficient knowledge of primary lab services and related industry developments as applicable.
  • Facilitates the development, implementation and maintenance of surveillance of all quality control systems, instrument maintenance and function verification within a team setting in areas of the laboratory where required.
  • Develops and maintains procedure manuals and ensures compliance with licensure, accreditation and safety standards for the area of responsibility. Maintains quality assurance program for specialty area.
  • Recognizes and solves problems by identifying the cause and implementing a solution either individually, with a team, or with Laboratory Management.
  • Serves as a laboratory representative to internal and external customers in the area of specialization. Maintains good communication with laboratory, management and other hospital areas as needed.
  • Provides orientation and training in the area of specialty.
  • The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
  • Assists Manager Supervisor with laboratory budget.
  • Facilitates and or assists in developing a working schedule and job assignments as needed.
  • Facilitates the maintenance of inventory of supplies and or reagents as needed.
  • Assists in LIS functions, troubleshooting, and database as needed.
  • Assists the Manager Supervisor in monitoring employee performance, and competence and professional development.
  • Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Certification or Specialty by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent educational concentration in the area of expertise.
  • Five 5 years of healthcare experience
  • One 1 to two 2 years of experience in specialty area
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Vocational/Trade Diploma (Required)
