Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Lead Fabricator / Installer to join a well-established, family-owned company with more than 60 years of success. This position combines high-level shop fabrication with field installation work, including leading projects and traveling with a team to customer job sites.
The ideal candidate has extensive fabrication and installation experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and the leadership ability to guide junior team members while maintaining exceptional standards for quality and craftsmanship.
Required Experience & Skills
510 years of fabrication and installation experience
Strong fabrication, assembly, and mechanical skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project drawings, and specifications
Experience working with stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and bronze
Strong leadership skills and ability to guide less-experienced team members
Ability and willingness to travel out of state for installation projects
Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
Reliable transportation to the shop
Ability to work overtime as project schedules require
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Lead fabrication and assembly of custom metal components in the shop
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications
Measure, fit, fabricate, and finish components according to project requirements
Work with stainless steel, brass, aluminum, bronze, and related materials
Operate grinders, sanders, polishing equipment, and other fabrication tools
Travel with installation crews to complete projects at customer locations
Assist with and lead installation activities at project sites
Ensure completed fabrication and installation work meets quality and dimensional requirements
Guide junior employees and provide hands-on direction throughout projects
Maintain project efficiency while ensuring accuracy and quality workmanship
Follow all company and job-site safety procedures
Perform additional fabrication and installation duties as assigned
Travel Requirements
Out-of-state travel required for installation projects
Projects typically range from a few days to approximately 11.5 weeks
Hotel accommodations and food expenses are covered by the company
Employees travel with the installation team in a company vehicle
Driving the company vehicle is not initially required
Overtime is likely during installation projects
Screening Requirements
Background check required
No violent felony convictions; other background history may be considered after five years
Must successfully complete a 5-panel drug screen, including THC, due to customer job-site requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience leading fabrication or installation teams
Experience overseeing projects from fabrication through final installation
Strong finishing and polishing skills
Experience working with architectural or specialty metals
Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards for precision and craftsmanship
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and handle materials throughout the workday
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and hands-on fabrication work
Ability to safely operate grinders, sanders, polishing equipment, and fabrication tools
Comfortable performing physically demanding work in both shop and field environments
Ability to travel and work extended hours during installation projects
Work Environment
Combination of fabrication shop and customer project sites
Hands-on work involving specialty metals, fabrication equipment, installation tools, and finishing processes
Travel to out-of-state projects as required
Team-oriented environment with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship, quality, safety, and project completion
