ABOUT THE ROLE
As an NC Pre-K Lead Teacher, you will lead a state-funded NC Pre-K classroom by implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with North Carolina Early Learning Standards.
You'll create an engaging classroom where children build confidence, independence, social-emotional skills, and kindergarten readiness while ensuring compliance with NC Pre-K standards and licensing requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead an NC Pre-K classroom using developmentally appropriate instructional practices
- Create engaging lesson plans aligned with the NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and organized learning environment
- Foster children's cognitive, language, physical, emotional, and social development
- Complete ongoing child assessments and developmental documentation
- Build strong partnerships with families through regular communication and conferences
- Ensure classroom compliance with NC Pre-K and North Carolina licensing requirements
- Collaborate with administrators and fellow teachers to maintain high-quality programming
- Mentor and support classroom assistants while modeling best teaching practices
- Participate in required professional development and training

Qualifications
Required:
- Must meet North Carolina NC Pre-K Lead Teacher qualifications
- North Carolina Birth-Kindergarten (BK) License OR
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Birth-Kindergarten Education, or another NC Pre-K approved field
- Must meet NC Division of Child Development and Early Education requirements
- Previous preschool or Pre-K teaching experience preferred
- Knowledge of NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
- Must successfully pass all required background screenings
