Position Summary
The Lead Network Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining enterprise networking, infrastructure, and security environments across multiple business operations. This role works closely with internal IT teams to support network performance, security initiatives, infrastructure projects, and day-to-day operational stability.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain enterprise WAN, LAN, WLAN, cloud-connected environments, and related server infrastructure across multiple operating entities
Assist with the development and adherence to network architecture standards, infrastructure policies, and operational procedures
Collaborate with IT leadership and technical teams to support infrastructure initiatives aligned with organizational security and performance goals
Manage and support enterprise firewall environments, including deployments, upgrades, firmware maintenance, and security patching
Deploy and maintain network and infrastructure solutions utilizing Cisco networking technologies, wireless platforms, virtualization environments, and enterprise security systems
Troubleshoot network, server, and infrastructure issues while coordinating with vendors and internal support teams to resolve technical problems
Support implementation and administration of network segmentation, VPN connectivity, remote access technologies, and Zero Trust/SASE security initiatives
Provide assistance with physical and virtual server environments, including Windows Server, Linux systems, storage platforms, and backup/recovery solutions
Partner with regional and local IT administrators to support infrastructure consistency and knowledge sharing across multiple business units
Participate in infrastructure integration and separation efforts related to acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures
Follow cybersecurity and compliance standards including NIST, ISO, CMMC, and related security best practices
Participate in infrastructure projects from planning through deployment, including documentation and technical implementation support
Remain current on emerging technologies and contribute recommendations for continuous infrastructure improvement and innovation
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered
Relevant certifications strongly preferred and may substitute for portions of formal education requirements, including:
Cisco CCNA
CompTIA Network+
Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-900/AZ-104)
VMware VCP or similar certifications
Additional certifications such as Security+ or ITIL are considered a plus
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure support, or systems administration within a professional IT environment
Experience supporting multi-site or multi-business IT operations preferred
Strong knowledge of Cisco networking technologies and enterprise infrastructure environments including Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization platforms
Experience with enterprise firewall technologies, VPN solutions, threat prevention tools, and secure remote access systems
