Based at Cobham Training Ground, you will lead the medical care of our Women's First Team squad, working at the heart of a multidisciplinary performance environment alongside coaches, sports scientists, therapists, nutritionists and performance specialists. This is a unique opportunity to influence player health, availability and performance at the highest level of the game while helping to shape the future of football medicine across Chelsea FC.

We're looking for a highly experienced and collaborative physician who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance environment and is passionate about delivering innovative, evidence-based medical care that enables players to perform at their best.

Closing date: 30th July

We encourage you to apply as soon as possible. In the event that we receive a large number of applications, the position may be filled before the listed closing date. To avoid missing out, please submit your application at your earliest convenience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of all medical services for Chelsea FC Women's First Team, acting as the primary physician for player illness, injury diagnosis and ongoing medical management.
  • Provide expert pitch-side medical cover at training sessions and all First Team fixtures, ensuring the highest standards of player care and emergency response.
  • Work closely with coaches, performance staff and senior leadership to support player availability, welfare and performance while maintaining strict medical confidentiality.
  • Lead medical screening programmes, including cardiac, concussion and other health assessments, ensuring compliance with best practice and governing body requirements.
  • Collaborate with physiotherapists, sports scientists, nutritionists and performance coaches to develop integrated injury management and return-to-play plans.
  • Drive informed clinical decision-making by coordinating specialist consultations, second opinions and treatment pathways both internally and externally.
  • Oversee medication management, injection therapies and diagnostic procedures within scope of practice, ensuring effective governance and record keeping.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with leading medical specialists and healthcare providers across the UK and internationally.
  • Support anti-doping compliance, player medical administration, pre-signing medicals and other essential football medicine operations.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and innovation of Football Medicine services across Chelsea FC, supporting strategic projects and sharing clinical expertise across the wider club.

Our Expectations:

  • To embody the club's BLUE behaviours (Brave, Lead, Unity, Edge) in the approach to work and interaction with others
  • To adhere to the club's policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, Financial Authorisation, Confidentiality and GDPR.
  • To act as an ambassador for diversity, equality, and inclusion, and demonstrate a positive commitment by treating others fairly in line with our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy and reporting any acts of discrimination through appropriate channels
  • To create a safe environment and act to protect all young people and vulnerable adults that are either in your care or attending club premises, and report any concerns to the Safeguarding Lead
  • To report any misconduct or suspected misconduct to the HR Department

Our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion:

At Chelsea we recognise that the diversity of our people is one of our greatest strengths and we are taking positive action to ensure our existing colleagues and job applicants can fully be themselves and bring their own unique experiences and perspectives to Chelsea FC. This means giving full and fair consideration to all applicants regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, and pregnancy and maternity.
