Lead Oracle EPM / Hyperion Business Systems Analyst

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Oracle EPM / Hyperion Business Systems Analyst to support critical financial planning and reporting applications within a global financial systems environment.

The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of hands-on experience with Hyperion Planning, Essbase, and Oracle EPM technologies, including application development, implementation, enhancements, and production support.

This position serves as both a functional and technical expert, working closely with senior financial leadership, including the CFO, as well as FP&A, Tax, Human Resources, Technology, and other business functions.

The role requires strong executive presence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable, sustainable financial systems solutions. The successful candidate will lead system initiatives, coordinate onsite and offshore resources, and support financial planning, forecasting, profitability analysis, allocations, and management reporting.

Minimal travel of approximately 5% may be required. After-hours or on-call support may be necessary during critical financial-processing periods.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements and translate functional needs into effective financial systems solutions.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, enhance, and support Hyperion Planning, Essbase, and Oracle EPM Cloud applications.

• Lead or contribute to full-cycle Hyperion and Oracle EPM implementations, enhancements, and cloud migration initiatives.

• Develop and maintain complex allocation models, business rules, calculation scripts, multidimensional databases, data integrations, and security structures.

• Develop and support financial reporting solutions using Smart View and Financial Reporting.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, profitability analysis, allocations, and management reporting processes.

• Participate in all phases of the solution lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, validation, deployment, training, and post-production support.

• Partner closely with the CFO, senior finance leadership, FP&A, Tax, Human Resources, Technology, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and recommend system solutions.

• Assess the impact of application changes and integrations across financial planning and reporting processes.

• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement improvements to system stability, efficiency, and usability.

• Lead small- to medium-sized projects, coordinating deliverables across onsite, offshore, and third-party resources.

• Manage vendor relationships and monitor service delivery against established SLAs and KPIs.

• Develop technical documentation, user guides, and training materials, and conduct end-user training.

• Communicate technical concepts, project updates, and solution recommendations effectively to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

• Manage competing priorities across application development, system enhancements, production support, and project initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum of seven years of hands-on experience with Hyperion or Oracle EPM technologies in complex, global business environments.

• Strong experience developing, implementing, supporting, and enhancing Hyperion Planning and Essbase applications.

• Experience leading or playing a significant role in at least one full-cycle Hyperion Planning or Oracle EPM implementation.

• Strong executive presence and excellent communication skills, with the ability to work directly with the CFO and other senior business leaders.

• Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into functional and technical specifications.

• Experience across the complete implementation lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, development, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, allocations, and management reporting.

• Hands-on experience developing calculation scripts, business rules, allocation models, data integrations, multidimensional databases, and reporting solutions.

• Experience leading projects and coordinating deliverables across onsite, offshore, and third-party teams.

• Experience managing vendor relationships and monitoring performance against SLAs and KPIs.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, documentation, and end-user training skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across business and technology functions.

• Strong customer-service orientation and ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting on-premises-to-cloud migrations or financial systems transformations.

• Experience with EPMA, DRM, FDMEE, or Web Analysis.

• Professional certification in Hyperion, Essbase, Oracle EPM Cloud, PMP, Six Sigma, or a related discipline.

• Consultative approach with the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to financial systems stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
