Lead Peri-Operative Assistant / 40 Hours / Afternoon Shift

LEAD PERI-OPERATIVE ASSISTANT

Department: Operating Room

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Afternoon Shift, Includes weekends

Hospital: Henry Ford Macomb Hospital

Location: Clinton Township, MI

GENERAL SUMMARY:

• Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, provides service support for assigned Surgical Services area(s) related to building services, patient transport, and patient preparation.
• Assists Surgical Services personnel in the positioning and maintenance of patient safety.
• Reports directly to the Surgical Services Leadership Team.
• Leads a team of four or more perioperative assistants.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• At least two years of experience as a Peri-Operative Assistant (POA) required.
• Must possess and maintain BLS-A certification.
• Prolonged standing, walking, bending and lifting.
• Physical ability to lift patients and move patients, supplies and equipment.
• Works in a patient care area environment which may include extreme temperature variations, exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, radiation, laser, and hazardous gases.
