Pre-K Teacher (4-Year-Old Classroom)
Position Overview
Decatur Scholars Academy is seeking an energetic, dependable, and passionate Pre-K Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for four-year-old scholars. The ideal candidate will prepare children for kindergarten through developmentally appropriate instruction while supporting their academic, social, emotional, and physical growth.
We are looking for a professional who values teamwork, active supervision, parent communication, and creating a positive classroom culture where every child can thrive.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS).
- Prepare students for kindergarten through hands-on learning in literacy, math, science, social studies, and social-emotional development.
- Maintain a structured, organized, and positive classroom environment.
- Provide active supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
- Observe, assess, and document each child's developmental progress.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and classroom records.
- Complete accident, incident, and behavior reports in accordance with school policies.
- Build positive relationships and communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized classroom that meets licensing standards.
- Collaborate with administrators and fellow teachers to support student success and a positive school culture.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
- Follow all Decatur Scholars Academy policies and Georgia Bright from the Start regulations.
Qualifications
- CDA, TCC, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience teaching Pre-K or preschool-aged children preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and positive classroom management techniques.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced classroom environment.
- Must meet Georgia Bright from the Start employment requirements.
- CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
