Lead Precision CNC Machinist — Turning/Milling, 4‑ & 5‑Axis

Do you independently set up multi‑axis CNC lathes and mills and keep them running to tight tolerances?
Can you design and validate fixtures that make complex parts repeatable?
Are FAIs, in‑process checks, and documentation second nature to you?
Do you read intricate GD&T and convert it into stable, efficient processes?
Will you mentor others while troubleshooting chatter, tool wear, and variation?
Role snapshot
Own setups and operation on multi‑axis turning and milling centers
Control tooling, offsets, feeds/speeds; tune processes for precision production
Design/build/validate fixtures and workholding for complex geometries
Lead First Article Inspections and complete all required paperwork
Run in‑process verification using CMMs, surface plates, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators
Quickly diagnose instability, chatter, and dimensional drift
Translate GD&T, engineering drawings, and customer specs into robust machining plans
Maintain setup sheets, process docs, and production records
Drive continuous improvement for quality, throughput, and efficiency
Coach less experienced machinists and serve as a go‑to technical resource
Qualifications
10+ years in precision CNC machining
Proficiency with 4‑axis and/or 5‑axis milling and multi‑axis turning
Expertise in fixture design and workholding
Hands‑on FAI leadership and documentation
Advanced GD&T interpretation
CMM proficiency and precision inspection skills
Strong command of feeds/speeds and tooling for steel, stainless, and aluminum; titanium/advanced materials experience is a plus
Experience in AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality systems
Works independently; sound decision‑making with minimal supervision
Nice to have: CAM programming with Mastercam and/or GibbsCAM
