JOB SUMMARY: This Early Childhood Program is a program for 2-5 year-olds. The Early Childhood Lead Teacher is responsible for day-to-day planning, organizing and conducting lessons and activities to promote students' social, physical and intellectual growth. Performs administrative duties related to the area of responsibility, including weekly lesson plans and initiative to establish a well-rounded learning environment. Directly responsible for supervising children and providing a safe and educational environment for all students. We are looking for a team player who has a love for young children along with an energetic personality, enthusiasm and willingness to grow with the program. Must also express maturity in thought, work habits and responsibility that perform the following, but not limited to:

  • Plans, organizes, and conducts early childhood programs
  • Prepares daily lessons plans based on the established theme-based curriculum
  • Instructs children (3-6 years of age) in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth needed for next preschool age group or for kindergarten readiness
  • Uses a variety of different educational techniques to teach children
  • Helps students build social competencies and self-esteem

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Age: Minimum age 19
  • Education: 2 years of college/Associate's Degree (60 hours) with 6 hours in ECE OR 1 year of college (30 hours) with 6 hours ECE (birth-6 years) and 1 year (1560 Hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten or licensed day care center; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience: Preference is given to applicants with preschool experience in a classroom setting
  • Certifications/Memberships: Professional certification(s) and/or active membership in a professional association desirable; Food Sanitation Certification and CPR, First Aid and Child Heimlich Maneuver certification must be obtained upon hire
  • Other: Must complete Mandated Reporter online training, medication exam with TB test and up to date vaccination for TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) and MMR (mumps, measles and rubella) and must complete 15 hours of in-service training annually
  • Must register with the Gateways Registry upon hire

SCHEDULING AND PAY:

  • This position is part-time, year-round - must be able to work from 8:45 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Hours: Up to 37 hours per week
  • Pay: $20/hour starting, commensurate with qualifications and experience
