Job Title: Lead Production Equipment Operator (Nights - Rotational Schedule) Department: Production Supervisor’s Title: Production Supervisor Location: Tolleson, AZ Work Type: On-Site (Not a Remote Position) Job Summary The Lead Production Equipment Operator (Lead PEO) is responsible for providing leadership, training and support to Production Equipment Operators (PEO), who perform operator maintenance and adjustments on equipment, oversee quality standards, and the operation of production equipment used to produce cups, containers, and / or lids. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Meets and communicates with either on-coming or off-going Lead Production Equipment Operator to review current issues such as quality, housekeeping or any changes needed.
- Reviews daily operation plans with shift’s Production Supervisor to ensure that all required changes to schedule are implemented so that production needs are met.
- Distributes operational duties and assigns Production Equipment Operator and Pack Tech to specific lines during the shift meeting, along with designating breaks throughout the shift.
- Trains other team members on equipment operation.
- Verifies compliance of quality checks are done by operators.
- Ensures proper paperwork is filled out and kept on file.
- Provides directive leadership and ensures company policy and safety rules are being followed.
- Acts as backup to shift Production Supervisor.
- Assists and performs Production Equipment Operator duties by:
- Performing continuous operation of multiple production equipment to ensure that product meets specifications.
- Adjusting temperature, air settings, PCW water pressure, speed and hydraulic pressure on equipment.
- Monitoring the temperature level changes at the start of shift and throughout the shift.
- Performing minor maintenance repairs and troubleshooting to ensure production of quality products.
- Generating and reviewing production reports to identify production equipment that is not performing efficiently.
- Maintaining established cycle settings on assigned machines to ensure production quality with minimal scrap by identifying and troubleshooting discrepancies, such as repeated mold scrap.
- Performing equipment evaluations on mold and machine count at the start of the shift to ensure production flow is consistent throughout shift.
- Performing “basket checks”, “line checks” and all assigned quality and measurement tests of the product being made to inspect for defects and malfunctions every hour. Must document findings on the inspector checklist.
- Ensuring equipment is properly repaired and placed back into production with minimal downtime.
- Performing all assigned quality tests (i.e. weight, length, color testing and straightness of product) to ensure the production of quality products. This requires frequent manual inspection and handling of the product to identify defects.
- Complying with all safety rules, policies, procedures and practices to include performing lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) of production equipment when required.
- Informing the leadership team immediately of any failures in order to meet the established quality standards and ensure corrective action is taken.
- Attends and/or leads meetings as required.
- Responsible for maintaining the efficient operation of production equipment.
- Assists other team members as needed.
- Operates production machinery and equipment such as the Pre-Expander, Thermoforming, densifier, melter and baler, following the proper safety procedures.
- Conducts safety inspections on equipment and notifies appropriate personnel for troubleshooting.
- Adheres to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP, SQF requirements and sanitation guidelines, rectify and/or reports non-compliance issues to Leadership.
- Maintains housekeeping standards by keeping work areas clean and safe at all times.
- Maintains on-call availability as required, to meet operational needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Production Supervisor, Plant Engineer, Department and Plant Manager.

Experience: - Two years in a manufacturing environment.
- Two years as a production equipment operator.
- Previous machine operator experience in foam industry required.
- Previous machine operator experience in plastics, extrusion or thermoforming operator preferred.
- Experience in cross training team mates.
Skills: - Basic computer skills.
- Basic Math skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to function independently.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Good oral and written communication skills.

- Requires work in an indoor manufacturing environment that may be exposed to extreme heat that is not air conditioned.
- Work environment contains loud noises and odors that may last for long periods of time or on a continual basis as well as occasional airborne particles.
- Must wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards at all times.
- Ability to work an 8+, 10+ or 12+ hour shifts as designated.
- Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as designated.
