Lead Project Manager - Public Construction North Jersey

This North Jersey-based Design-Build General Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a major institutional construction project. Due to an internal promotion, the company is looking for a proven leader who can successfully manage complex projects, build strong client relationships, and oversee project teams from preconstruction through closeout.

Description

The Senior Project Manager will:

• Lead a major construction project from preconstruction through completion
• Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, consultants, and project stakeholders
• Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and reporting
• Oversee contracts, procurement, subcontractor management, and project documentation
• Lead project teams including Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, and support staff
• Coordinate design and construction activities to ensure project success
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project controls
• Monitor financial performance and maintain budget objectives
• Identify project risks and implement proactive solutions
• Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to clients and leadership
• Oversee Quality Assurance and Quality Control efforts
• Ensure successful project closeout and client satisfaction

Profile

The successful Senior Project Manager will have:

• 10+ years of General Contractor or Construction Management experience
• Experience managing large-scale construction projects valued at $30M+
• Institutional, public sector, higher education, healthcare, laboratory, or similar project experience preferred
• Design-Build experience preferred
• Strong client-facing communication and relationship management skills
• Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff
• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
• Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, contracts, and project controls
• Proven leadership, integrity, and professionalism
• Ability to manage complex projects while maintaining strong client relationships
