GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

This job description is an addendum to the Receptionist job description.

Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager, the Lead Receptionist takes a leadership role in the department, acting as a trainer, resource and mentor for other receptionists and staff.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Demonstrates advanced skills in the use of the EMR; can teach EMR skills in all areas of practice.
  • Provide back-up support for the receptionist team.
  • Assist with the training and supervision of assigned receptionist staff.
  • Works collaboratively with clinic staff on programs to improve patient outcomes.
  • Assists in organizing and participating in quality improvement activities to improve systems/services.
  • Evaluate situations that may lead to errors or miscommunication and know how to correctly intervene and report.
  • Perform other administrative tasks and clinical care as assigned by the Clinic Manager.
  • Assist receptionist staff with issues, training, education, and mentoring.
  • Verify insurance and demographics with patient and collect any co-pay or balance due.
  • Run eligibility for upcoming appointments and complete confirmation calls within two days of the schedule appointment.
  • Answer patient questions and concerns regarding billing.
  • Collect and post payments according to patient accounts for co-pays and cash payments.

The expected salary range for this position is $23.00-26.00 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years experience as a receptionist or in a customer service-related field.
  • Ability to type 45 wpm.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with an electronic practice management (EMR) system.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
