Description:

This position is grant-funded and contingent upon availability of grant. This position is also a part-time, position, working a maximum of 24 hours per week.

Provides assistance and expertise in various areas of research such as calibration of instrumentation, equipment maintenance and repair, preparation of samples for testing, monitoring of safety equipment and procedures, development and fabrication of prototype equipment, recording of test results, and basic analyses of data.

1. Ensures experiments are preformed according to specification.

2. May make practical technical recommendations to changes in procedures, equipment, or prototype design.

3. Applies advanced skills adapting techniques, tools, or procedures to meet special needs.

4. Develops leadership and management skills.

5. Resolves most questions referring only the most complex to higher levels.

6. Adapts procedures to meet special needs.

7. Receives general supervision.

8. May orient and train low level employees.

MQ: Associate''s Degree with 3 years experience. Applicants with a Master's degree in psychology or related discipline with research and statistical training in longitudinal data analysis preferred.

Research assistant to work on the MIRRORS+ Project as part of the Evaluation Team. The project is Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration funded project to evaluate services provided to pregnant and post-partum women with substance use problems at Santa Maria Hostel in Houston, Texas. James H. Bray, Ph.D. is the Project Evaluator (jhbray@central.uh.edu).

General duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Enter data into EXCEL and SPSS databases.
• Maintain Excel data dashboard.
• Enter data and prepare reports in the SPARS SAMHSA system.
• Collect data from participants.
• Assist with interviewing participants.
• Track participants.
• Review research materials.
• Help prepare required reports and publications for the project.
• Prepare PowerPoint presentations.
• Attend weekly project meetings.

Education required: Master's degree in psychology or related discipline with research and statistical training in longitudinal data analysis.

Skills/Knowledge required: excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills, grammar and spelling: Must be skilled in all Microsoft Office products for Windows, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS. Must have advanced statistical training and able to do longitudinal data analyses. Ability to work well with others and work with multiple professionals is required. Attention to detail is very important.

This is a grant funded position. Grant ends September 30, 2028.

Position is 60% FTE and includes some benefits.
