Lead Construction Safety Manager Location: Wheatfield, IN Duration: 2 Years (Start: 8/24) Type: 1099 ContractorCompensation & Schedule Pay Rate: $63/hr (Local) or $50/HR (non-local) Per Diem: $125/Day on seven days Completion Bonus: $150/month Pay Frequency: Weekly Schedule: 60 Hours a week (6 10s)Why This Opportunity?Join an electrical contractor supporting the new construction of a large-scale data center in Wheatfield, IN. This is a long-term opportunity for an experienced safety leader to provide overall safety leadership for electrical construction operations throughout multiple phases of a mission-critical project.The Lead Construction Safety Manager will maintain a strong field presence while providing leadership to the site safety program, partnering with electrical crews, field supervision, and project management to proactively identify hazards, maintain compliance, and drive a strong safety culture throughout the project.Required Qualifications OSHA 500 or 510 OSHA 30 Construction Certification Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience Previous Lead Safety Manager or comparable safety leadership experiencePreferred Qualifications Electrical construction safety experience NFPA 70E knowledge or certification Data center or mission-critical construction experience Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) experience Experience supporting electrical energization and commissioning activitiesWhat You'll Be DoingLead day-to-day construction safety operations for the electrical contractorMaintain a highly visible field presence alongside electrical crews and project supervisionProvide safety leadership, coaching, and direction to field personnelConduct routine site inspections, audits, field observations, and risk assessmentsMonitor electrical installation activities and evolving electrical hazards as construction progressesEnsure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirementsSupport Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazardous energy control, and electrical safe work practicesReview Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), permits, and pre-task plansLead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementationCoordinate safety activities with project management, superintendents, foremen, and subcontractorsMaintain required safety documentation, inspection records, reports, and compliance recordsTrack corrective actions and verify successful completionMentor and support other safety personnel as neededProactively identify project risks and implement effective controlsPromote a strong, proactive safety culture throughout the projectTechnical KnowledgeCandidates should have working knowledge of:OSHA Construction StandardsElectrical Construction SafetyData Center & Mission-Critical ConstructionNFPA 70E Electrical SafetyLockout/Tagout (LOTO)Hazardous Energy ControlElectrical Shock & Arc Flash HazardsTemporary Power & Electrical DistributionElectrical Equipment InstallationEnergization & Commissioning SafetyFall Protection & Elevated WorkAerial Lifts & MEWPsMaterial Handling OperationsJob Hazard Analysis (JHA) DevelopmentIncident Investigation & Root Cause AnalysisContractor Safety ManagementSafety Leadership & Field CoachingConstruction Risk Assessment & MitigationWhat Success Looks LikeThe ideal candidate is an experienced construction safety leader who can effectively lead safety operations while building credibility with electricians, field supervision, and project leadership.Success in this role requires strong field leadership, proactive hazard identification, effective coaching, and the ability to drive consistent safety expectations throughout a long-term electrical construction project.
