Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced, responsible, and student-centered Abridge Program School Advisor to oversee the day-to-day management of the Abridge Program and provide leadership to the advising team.


This position plays a key leadership role in managing the overall student experience, including academic progress, student advising, residential operations, college application planning, student development, and parent communication.


The School Advisor will supervise and coordinate the work of other Program Advisors and Dorm Managers, ensuring that students receive consistent academic, residential, and personal support.


This role also serves as a key point of coordination among students, advisors, teachers, residential staff, parents, school administrators, and external program partners.


The ideal candidate has prior experience in student services, academic advising, education management, school administration, or program management, with demonstrated experience supervising or leading a team.


Key Responsibilities


1. Advisor Team Management & Leadership


  • Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to Program Advisors.

  • Assign responsibilities and student cases among Advisors based on program needs and workload.

  • Establish clear expectations, workflows, and accountability standards for the advising team.

  • Regularly review Advisors’ student cases, follow-up activities, documentation, and overall performance.

  • Conduct regular team meetings and case review meetings to discuss student progress, concerns, and action plans.

  • Provide coaching, training, and ongoing support to Advisors.

  • Ensure Advisors communicate effectively and consistently with students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.

  • Identify operational or performance issues within the advising team and work with school leadership to address them.

2. Academic Management & Student Progress


  • Oversee students’ academic progress, attendance, assignments, grades, and overall school performance.

  • Ensure Advisors consistently monitor assigned students and follow up on academic concerns.

  • Review student progress and identify students who require academic intervention or additional support.

  • Coordinate with teachers, Teaching Assistants, Advisors, and academic staff regarding student performance and academic needs.

  • Develop appropriate academic improvement plans and follow-up strategies for students as needed.

  • Guide students in study habits, time management, organization, course planning, and academic expectations.

  • Maintain accurate student progress records and provide regular updates to parents, school leadership, and relevant stakeholders.

3. College & Academic Planning


  • Oversee students’ long-term academic and college preparation plans.

  • Work with Advisors to ensure students are progressing toward their academic and college admission goals.

  • Monitor important application milestones, deadlines, required materials, and student preparation.

  • Coordinate college application planning and advising services as students approach the application process.

  • Ensure Advisors maintain accurate records of students’ academic plans, application progress, and follow-up items.

  • Communicate with students and parents regarding academic planning and college preparation when appropriate.

4. Residential Program Management


  • Oversee the daily operation of the residential component of the Abridge Program.

  • Supervise and coordinate Dorm Managers regarding student supervision, schedules, responsibilities, reporting, and residential expectations.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain residential policies, SOPs, operational procedures, and documentation.

  • Monitor student attendance, curfews, weekend leave requests, room checks, residential conduct, and other residential requirements.

  • Ensure Dorm Managers complete required student evaluations, incident reports, attendance records, and other documentation accurately and on time.

  • Coordinate responses to student health, safety, behavioral, and emergency situations.

  • Work closely with Advisors and Dorm Managers to ensure academic and residential information is communicated effectively.

5. Student Support & Case Management


  • Oversee student cases across academic, residential, behavioral, and general program matters.

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex student issues that require additional support or management attention.

  • Build positive and professional relationships with students while maintaining appropriate expectations and accountability.

  • Monitor students’ overall adjustment, engagement, behavior, and development within both academic and residential environments.

  • Coordinate appropriate interventions and follow-up plans when student concerns arise.

  • Organize or oversee student activities, community-building programs, holiday events, and other program activities.

6. Parent, School & Partner Communication


  • Serve as a key liaison among students, parents, Advisors, teachers, residential staff, school administrators, and external program partners.

  • Ensure parents and program partners receive timely and accurate updates regarding student progress and significant concerns.

  • Coordinate meetings, follow-ups, and action items among different stakeholders.

  • Address parent and partner concerns professionally and coordinate appropriate solutions.

  • Ensure important student information is communicated accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner.

7. Program Operations & Continuous Improvement


  • Develop and maintain program SOPs, advising procedures, student tracking systems, evaluation forms, residential records, and other operational documents.

  • Establish consistent workflows and standards across the advising and residential teams.

  • Track program tasks, deadlines, student cases, and follow-up items.

  • Prepare regular student and program reports for school leadership.

  • Identify operational gaps and recommend improvements to program processes, communication, documentation, and student services.

  • Support the continued development and expansion of the Abridge Program.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Educational Leadership, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising, leading, or managing a team is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in academic advising, student services, education management, school administration, program management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working directly with middle school or high school students and supporting their academic progress.
  • Experience with college counseling, academic planning, or college applications preferred.
  • Experience in residential life, boarding schools, or international student programs is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple student cases and communicate with students, parents, teachers, staff, and external partners.
