This leader position performs routine patrols, writes incident reports, and responds to non-emergency and emergency calls throughout the entire campus as requested by security supervision.
Responsibilities:(30%)* Carries out assignments as directed by the Security Manager and/or supervisor.
(30%)* Follows up on all incident reports and dispatch entries. Ensures that all reports and entries are filled out properly and communicated to the proper person.
(30%)* Trains security officers and dispatchers.
(10%)* Responsible for monthly check of fire extinguishers, fire doors, outside lighting checks, panic buttons and elevator phones.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for any security activities that occur during the course of their assigned shift.
2. Delegates to security and dispatch staff duties and other assignments.
3. Assists Supervisor and/or Manager in job performance reviews of staff; performs coaching of staff.
4. Checks wand reports and informs officers of the report.
5. Ensures all policies and procedures are carried out.
6. Completes routine inside/outside rounds and dispatch duties.
7. Escorts patients to In Patient Mental Health, or other areas of the facility, as requested by staff (i.e. doctor, nurse).
8. Escorts employees to and from their vehicle, as requested or assigned by the Security Supervisor or the Security Manager.
9. Assists with helicopter flight operations.
10. Responds to hospital emergency overhead pages as determined by security dispatch.
11. Monitors and pages all fire codes, as received on the fire monitor system located in security dispatch.
12. Monitors and reports alarms received on the S& D alarm panel, generator alarm panel, HVAC computer, Medical Air Gases alarm panel.
13. Answers all calls for assistance, received on the security emergency phone line or facilities help line.
14. Creates a maintenance work order for all calls received on the facilities help line.
15. Enters information from maintenance job logs and work orders into the TMS application.
16. Monitors CCTV system for any and all suspicious circumstances, dispatching a security officer when required.
17. Conducts continuous random patrols, utilizing the patrol vehicle, bicycle, or foot patrol.
18. Secures and unlocks doors, as prescribed by policies or procedures, or at the direction of the Security Manager and Supervisor.
19. Notifies the Security Manager and/or Supervisor via chain of command, for any and all major incidents that occur of facility property.
20. Enforces parking policy, as directed.
21. Responds to all calls received from the public, hospital staff, and the security dispatcher.
22. Responds to all panic alarms located throughout the facility.
23. Responsible for enforcing that all contractors that are working above the ceiling and/or have removed a ceiling tile have a yellow copy of the "Above Ceiling Access Permit" permit.
24. Writes reports as required by policies.
25. Follows all departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
1. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups.
2. Ability to interact with people at all levels to communicate information in a clear and understandable manner.
3. Must have previous leadership or security experience.
4. If driving a company vehicle must be eligible under the hospital insurance guidelines.
5. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
2. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, and feeling.
3. Ability to handle multiple tasks.
4. Overall vision is necessary, including reading and close-up work.
5. Hearing and speech on the phone as well as in person are necessary.
6. Must be able to communicate verbally in person, on the phone and in writing.
7. Must be able to freely move around the department or medical center.
8. Frequently position requires regular public contact and decision?making.
9. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.
10. Must pass both the physical and verbal test of PPCT and CPI training to remain employed with MyMichigan Health.
11. Must be able to physically intervene and/or restrain for an extended period of time against an individual wishes to protect
themselves or others.
12. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
