The Lead Software Engineer directs the software development team responsible for developing and delivering complex custom software solutions for VRS business units. The incumbent champions innovative approaches to utilizing technology to solve business problems and achieve business goals and objectives, performing complex analyses of business requirements and producing complex technical designs to meet the needs of the business. The role develops, tests, implements, and maintains complex code and configuration for the VRS business and supporting applications utilizing the .Net toolset. In addition, the position provides timely support for production issues and expert knowledge of standards and best practices for ASP and .Net development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or closely-related field.
Must have a minimum of seven years of experience working with ASP and .Net development.
Experience should include at least two years in a team leader or supervisory role. Other education and experience may be considered.
Comprehensive experience in ASP.Net, C#, and MS SQL technologies are required, as well as experience in using software development methodologies and secure coding practices.
Additional Considerations
Advanced knowledge of technology principles, and the best practices and procedures to apply in complex software development assignments. Ability to learn new technologies and mentor others in learning new technologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and superior organizational and project management skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and to lead other staff effectively and independently in a fast-paced team environment where priorities can rapidly change.
Abilities to prioritize own work activities with minimal guidance and coaching and to complete complex projects independently with minimal oversight and direction. Abilities to ascertain and meet customer expectations; solve complex problems through discovery and analysis with minimal guidance; develop and manage detailed and accurate work plans and appropriately communicate work plan risks and impacts to management; and provide, maintain, and follow technical documentation.

The current hybrid schedule for technology employees is 3 days onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and 2 days remote (Monday and Friday). All employees must be able to work the current hybrid schedule and report to the office as needed on designated remote days.
