Senior/Lead Node.js Engineer

Location: Roseland, NJ

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days onsite per week

Duration: 6-month contract with potential extensions

Engagement: W2 / C2C

Rate:$65-$75/hr

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior/Lead Node.js Engineer with a strong software engineering background and hands-on experience building, supporting, and scaling high-performance, highly available applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Node.js, full-stack software engineering, SQL/NoSQL databases, Docker, Jenkins, CI/CD, TDD, and production troubleshooting. This role requires an engineer who can remain hands-on while contributing to technical design, development, and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Node.js applications and backend services.
• Build and support high-performance and highly available applications.
• Work across backend and frontend development as needed.
• Develop and integrate APIs and distributed application components.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Build and maintain Docker-based applications and CI/CD pipelines.
• Work with Jenkins and automated build/deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform performance tuning.
• Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) and strong software engineering practices.
• Participate in Agile development and new product/platform initiatives.
• Contribute to technical design, code quality, and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop, integrate, and scale applications.

• Strong Node.js experience

• Strong SQL and NoSQL database experience
• Hands-on Docker, Jenkins, and CI/CD experience
• Production troubleshooting and support experience
• Strong TDD / software engineering practices
• Ability to work across backend and frontend development

ProjectThe role supports a new enterprise ePlatform/eHCM product that is being continuously developed, integrated, and scaled following its initial go-live. The engineering team is focused on ongoing platform development, integrations, enhancements, and modernization.

Interview Process

• Initial video screening required with submission
• Two-round interview process
• Interviews may include virtual and/or onsite panel discussions

Candidates should be prepared to discuss their hands-on experience with Node.js, backend/full-stack development, application performance, databases, CI/CD, Docker, TDD, production troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving.
