Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience leading communications and issue-area campaigns within the sustainability space.
  • Experience working with sustainability NGOs, advocacy groups, policy makers, and other similar stakeholders.
  • Experience with sustainability issues and stakeholder management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to solve multi-stakeholder issues, demonstrate executive presence, and build relationships to drive successful outcomes.
  • Ability to grow in environments characterized by ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and program management skills.

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of communications programs to advance the objectives of Google’s Global Sustainability Team. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders to drive storytelling and messaging campaigns that further Google’s sustainability moonshots.

You will collaborate across a variety of internal teams at Google working on sustainability, policy, marketing, and communications.
The Global Sustainability team enables Google to build a more sustainable future for everyone by driving strategy and solutions. We drive the development and implementation of Google’s global sustainability strategy to further empower action, ensure alignment and prioritization, identify leadership opportunities, and mitigate risks. We drive sustainability strategy and programs on carbon, circular economy, water, product integration, reporting, and employee engagement, while serving as a sustainability leadership advocate internally and externally.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$274,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the global sustainability communications and storytelling strategy, including key narrative development and external positioning to ensure a unified one-Google sustainability voice.
  • Translate technical environmental initiatives into compelling, human-centric narratives and creative campaigns that resonate with global audiences.
  • Serve as the primary bridge across key teams, including but limited to Climate Operations, Policy, Communications and Marketing to synchronize external messaging with internal business strategies.
  • Own the Rapid Response protocol and sprint-based workflows to manage high-stakes issues.
  • Direct and develop a high-performing team of communicators, fostering professional growth while overseeing the successful delivery of priorities.
