Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech:

Responsibilities:

• Serves as ‘lead’ in their functional area and coordinates special project assignments. 
• Assists surgeons with surgical procedures within the operating room under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, including conveying sterile instruments and supplies used in basic to complex surgical procedures. 
• Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety. 

Qualifications:

Job Requirements: 

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent;  graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or hospital -based program.
• Sterilization techniques.
• Operating Room instruments and supplies.
• Medical terminology.
• Six (6) months' experience in an acute care hospital-based operating room, or ambulatory surgery center.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:  

• Certified.
• 1 year of OR experience.
• CORT or CST.
