Position/Department Summary:
Supervises day-to-day classroom operations and communication with parents. Works with teaching team to plan and implement age-appropriate activities, and to provide a caring environment where children are safe and secure. Cares for the health, welfare, and safety of children under 5 years of age in a group setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Per DEEC regulations, oversees the welfare, health and safety of the children in the group.

- Responsible for ensuring that all adults carry out Center policies regarding the safety and well-being of children. Prepares healthy snacks, feeds and diapers children. Collaborating with teaching team to plan age-appropriate daily activities, classroom routines and classroom design.
- Conducting daily activities. Prepares and selects appropriate materials and helps to foster and facilitate play between children. Developing trusting relationships with children.
- Reporting to team unusual or extreme behavior which may indicate emotional, developmental or physical problems. Helps to plan and implement interventions for children with extra needs.
- Developing partnerships with parents and educates families on child development issues.
- Conducting bi-annual conferences with parents and arranges for additional parent conferences as needed. Maintains confidentiality in matters pertaining to the status, development and finances of individual children and families.
- Communicating daily with parents about children's activities and follows all center policies/procedures.
- Making frequent informal observations of children’s progress and shares them with teaching team.
- Preparing written progress reports on each child every six months. Infants’ groups every 3 months.
- Responsible for requesting supplies to ensure proper functioning of classroom.
- In the absence of the Lead Teacher, responsible for all agency compliance as it relates to the classroom.
- As required by DEEC, completing all developmental assessments and developmental books on assigned children.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Early Childhood Education or closely related field preferred
Experience:- Three to five years of professional teaching experience with infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
Certification/Registration Required:- Department of Early Education and Care Certification required.
- First Aid/CPR Certified.
