Description

The University of North Alabama's Spencer College of Education and Human Sciences' Kilby Laboratory School is accepting applications for the position of Lead Teacher, Pre-K Four-Year Class. This position is responsible for instruction and oversight of a four-year-old, preschool classroom program. This position is a lead teacher position in an Alabama Department of Children's Affairs Office of School Readiness classroom. Specific duties include planning and implementing age-appropriate daily activities for four-year-olds, designing and implementing pre-school curriculum, following the grant guidelines, and maintaining the classroom environment to maintain National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation standards. Successful candidates should have a keen understanding of early childhood education, child growth and development, and current technology skills, as well as the ability to supervise the auxiliary teacher and student workers is also necessary.

Essential Job Duties

Specific duties include planning and implementing age-appropriate daily activities for four-year-olds, designing and implementing pre-school curriculum, following the grant guidelines, and maintaining the classroom environment to maintain National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation standards. Successful candidates should have a keen understanding of early childhood education, child growth and development, and current technology skills, as well as the ability to supervise the auxiliary teacher and student workers is also necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education degree (minimum of a masters) and currently hold or be eligible for an Alabama valid professional educator certification in Early Childhood Education (P-3); LETRS training is preferred; Experience with STEM instruction is preferred; OR
  • Master's level Special Education degree in Early Childhood with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework AND
  • Currently hold or be eligible for an Alabama valid professional educator certification in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework.
