POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Early Learning Teacher at YMCA of Rapid City is responsible for creating a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
- Prepare a mission-based, fun, age-appropriate, and meaningful curriculum that serves to enhance each child's academic, social, and physical development. Complete and file lesson plans monthly
- Implement the curriculum in such a way that there is documented academic, social, and physical progress for each child.
- Learn, actively implement and train other early learning staff in the YMCA Social and Emotional Curriculum, Conscious Discipline.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum as measured by portfolio deadlines.
- Conduct supervision of early learning staff such that each one understands and successfully achieves their performance objectives.
- Conduct formal and informal evaluations of early learning staff such that evaluations result in the achievement of their performance objectives.
- Ensure the safety and security of each child in your care.
- Maintain excellent room appearance and proper maintenance and use of equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Fully comply with YMCA safety policies and state and local codes.
- Develop and maintain positive relations with parents and children.
- Connect with the staff in the classroom on a weekly basis to communicate information gained through Lead Teacher/Associate Director meetings.
- Manage and monitor expenses
- Accurately complete an incident/accident report for each incident/accident and submit and report it in accordance with staff training.
- Maintain neat and accurate attendance/meal production records.
- Complete and distribute monthly newsletters in a timely manner as directed by the Associate Director.
- Complete and distribute reports daily to go home to parents regarding the child's day through Brightwheel App.
- Whatever else may be needed to further the YMCA movement

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have a Child Development Associate Credential
- Have a history of excellence in achieving qualitative and quantitative growth in programs and participants.
- Demonstrate solid leadership as demonstrated by a high level of loyalty and respect among those this person leads.
- Be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Be passionate about the YMCA mission and vision and must personally advocate and demonstrate the core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
- Meet qualifications needed for South Dakota State childcare licensing.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Have CPR and First aid certification prior to or within 60 days of hire.
- If possible, have or be able to obtain a Class B driver's license with passenger and air brakes endorsement
