Position Overview:The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing daily classroom activities,
guiding Teacher Assistants, and ensuring compliance with all NYC Department of Health
regulations. This role is ideal for an educator who is confident in the classroom, values
teamwork, and is passionate about early childhood development.
In addition to classroom leadership, this position may serve as a Director Designee when
needed, supporting overall program operations in the absence of the Director (e.g., during
vacations or sick leave), in accordance with NYC DOHMH guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and routines
Create a nurturing, engaging, and well-managed classroom environment
Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being
Lead and support Teacher Assistants within the classroom
Maintain classroom compliance with NYC DOHMH Article 47 regulations
Complete observations, documentation, and developmental assessments as required
Communicate regularly with families regarding their child’s progress and daily activities
Ensure proper health, safety, and sanitation practices are followed
Support children’s social-emotional development and build independence skills
Collaborate with leadership on classroom needs, curriculum planning, and overall
program goals
Support program operations as Director Designee when assigned, ensuring
continuity of compliance, supervision, and daily operations
